About Merrick Gilroy
Founder Unmapped Excursions
I founded Unmapped Excursions to share my favorite places in the world with others. With 15 years of experience as a sommelier, I have explored wine regions, worked harvests across Europe, and dined in some of the world's top kitchens. As an education manager, I taught guests about various wines and their cultural significance during experiential dinners. I realized my passion extended beyond teaching around the dinner table, leading me to create tours to the very regions I hosted dinners around. I also led some of Boston's top wine programs at Tasting Counter and Contessa, deepening my connections with old-world winemakers. In January 2024, I launched Unmapped Excursions to share my passion for esteemed vineyards, world-class dining, and the rich cultural history of each region through food and wine.
